Ukrainian Banks’ Capital Went up by 12.7% for 9 Months of 2011

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, 177 Ukrainian banks were holding banking licenses (public joint stock companies) issued by the National Bank of Ukraine as of 01.10.2011.

For 9 months in 2011, the funds of banks have increased by 12.7%, and as of 01.10.2011 they totalled UAH 155.2 or 15.0% bank liabilities.

Paid registered capital has increased by 14.9%, up to UAH 167.5 bn.

Liabilities of banks have increased by 9.0%, up to UAH 876.5 bn.

As of 01.10.2011 the basic components of liabilities were:
• Funds of individuals – UAH 300.3 bln. or 34.3% (outflow of funds of individuals in September was 1%);
• Funds of economic agents – UAH 170.7 bln. or 19.5%;
• Interbank credits and deposits – UAH 164.5 bln. or 18.8%.

The structure of funds of individuals in banks was as follows:
• time deposits – UAH 226.9 bln. or 75.5%;
• funds on demand – UAH 73.4 bln. or 24.5%.

Ukrainian bank assets increased by 9.5%, and as of 01.10.2011 they totalled UAH 1,031.7 bn.; total assets made up UAH 1,193.6 bn.

The structure of total assets of banks was as follows:
• cash funds, bank bullions and other funds in the National Bank of Ukraine – 4.6%;
• correspondent accounts with other banks – 6.1%;
• credit transactions – 68.7%. The volume of issued credits exceeded UAH 820 bn., which was 8.55% higher than the similar index of 01 January 2011;
• investments in securities – 6.8%;
• accounts receivable – 3.9%;
• fixed assets and intangible assets – 4.4%;
• accrued revenues receivable – 4.5%;
• other assets – 1.0%.

Currency exchange rate as of October 1, 2011: UAH7.9727 per USD1.
