CreditMarket Index: a mean effective rate on credits for home appliances and electronics is stable at 139.02%

CreditMarket Consumer Loan Index remains stable at 139.02% just as recorded before, on 25 and 11 July 2012, against 121.85% recorded on 27 June 2012 (an effective rate on credits for home appliances and electronics per annum, in UAH). The information is as of 08 August 2012.

Denis Rakovsky, Sales Director at KreditMarket: “An effective rate on credits for home appliances and electronics has been stable at 139.02% for a month. As it was mentioned, it’s the highest point of CreditMarket Consumer Loan Index recorded within the whole calculation year. It approximates the index point of 139.01% recorded in April. It is particularly remarkable that there was a jump to this point from the lowest value (121.85%) recorded since the beginning of calculation (July 2011), while passing by intermediary values.

Since the previous calculation one bank from our CreditMarket Consumer Loan Index list (Russian Standard) has changed its terms on consumer loans: it increased the monthly loan service fee. However, it did not affect the mean effective rate.

As we already mentioned, the remarkably high current level of CreditMarket Consumer Loan Index, in our opinion, is a result of the significant deficiency of hryvnia resources in the Ukrainian credit market.

In the mid-term we assume that the mean effective rate on credits for home appliances and electronics may keep on varying. It’s explained by the two-way market situation. On the one hand, the market situation favours this segment growth, strengthening of the competition and, as a result, decreasing cost of loans. On the other hand, a lack of resources in the market will lead to their appreciation. In early autumn we expect a seasonal burst of activity in this market. It may activate the players and, as a result, multiple changes in terms on this crediting type.”
