CreditMarket Cash Loan Index: a mean effective rate stopped growing at 114.15%

On 21 August, CreditMarket Cash Loan Index was recorded at 114.15%, just like on 24 July and 07 August 2012 (an effective rate on cash loans per annum, in UAH) against 111.76% recorded on 10 July 2012.

Denis Rakovsky, Sales Director at KreditMarket: “CreditMarket Cash Loan Index has been stable at 114.5% for a month.

For the two weeks since the last calculation, no bank from our CreditMarket Cash Loan Index list has changed the conditions for granting of cash loans.

In our opinion, against resource deficiency and costliness in the Ukrainian credit market, many banks can declare this activity type; however, in fact, they may refuse from granting cash credits. Nevertheless, in early September a seasonal burst of activity may occur in the consumer crediting market due to the business year beginning. It’s possible that crediting banks will continue looking for an optimal set of conditions. On the one hand, creditors feel the pressure of attracted deposit rates aggressively growing within the recent weeks, i. e. the increasing cost of resources. On the other hand, they are restricted by the need to compete for decent borrowers who are sensible to a growth of credit rates.

In the short term we do not expect a stable mean effective rate for this crediting type. However, in our opinion, there are no prerequisites for its significant fluctuations.”
