CreditMarket Index: growth of effective rates on car loans recommences - 45.99%

On 3 December 2012, Credit Market Car Loan Index went up to 45.99% against 45.52% recorded on 19 November 2012 (the effective rate on new car loans per annum, in UAH). The information is as of 4 December 2012.

Denis Rakovsky, Sales Director at KreditMarket: “The mean effective rate on car loans has increased slightly again, by 0.47 p. p., to 45.99%. It’s a new highest point ever of Credit Market Car Loan Index (standard credits non-subsidized by car producers). For your information: the last highest value was recorded on 6 November 2012 (45.52%), and the lowest point was reached in July 2011 (34.44%).

For the last two weeks since the previous calculation, two banks from our CreditMarket Car Loan Index list (OTP Bank and Finance and Credit) have changed their terms on this crediting type. Both banks have increased the nominal interest rate. Finance and Credit Bank has also slightly decreased the monthly loan service fee.

The situation in the Ukrainian credit resource market has been tense for four month already. And there are no prerequisites for any changes for the better in the short term. Even though an active sale of 2012 car models has already started, we don’t observe a traditional year-end activity burst in the car crediting market, the banks failed to offer cheaper credits. At the same time, it is known that today car importers and dealers are very interested in sales promotion and making much effort to free their warehouses from the current year’s cars to start selling the next year car models. However, the special terms of subsidy provision by car importers and car produces may cover specific models and configurations, and their sales need to be promoted more aggressively.”
